WIRELESS NETWORK DESIGN

Throughout your engagement with us, we work with you to design a wireless network that meets all of your technical and business requirements in terms of:

Coverage:

Not all wireless networks are designed and configured equally. We custom design each Wi-Fi network according to a specific set of criteria, including planning for coverage, capacity, voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN), real-time location tracking system (RTLS), high density wireless, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Cisco Wireless Intrusion Prevention (wIPS).

Infrastructure:

Based on IEEE 802.11 standard wireless infrastructure equipment from best-in-class leaders including Cisco, Meraki, HPE/Aruba, ABB Tropos, Ruckus, Huawei etc. We audit all your existing equipment to determine how best to leverage a new wireless installation from your existing network infrastructure. This includes existing 802.11a/g wireless, and migration to the latest 802.11ac wireless standard, depending on your requirements.

Security:

Built on strong wireless security protocols compatible with your corporate standards, including WPAv2, 802.1X (RADIUS) and virtual private networks (VPNs). In addition, we look at your requirements for wireless IPS, spectrum intelligence and tracking of associated sources of intrusions and interference.

Management:

Leveraging from network and device management systems such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, Cisco CleanAir, and Cisco Mobility Services Engine (MSE), we help your network admin staff to monitor system performance, proactively prevent RF issues, proactively respond to rogue AP and intrusions, remotely troubleshoot devices and automatically backup hardware configurations and install software updates.

Optimisation:

Ensures your company is getting the most out of your WLAN Infrastructure, gaining those last few percentage gains in performance, and ensuring your clients have an excellent Quality of Experience (QoE). We achieve this via an end-to-end assessment of your wireless architecture, where we highlight any RF and infrastructure issues before they become a problem, and propose further recommendations and tweaks to your network to gain additional performance via techniques you may not be aware of, based on industry and vendor specific best practices and our prior experience.

Dynamic Wireless Provides Two Types of Wireless Network Designs:

Macro Wireless Design:

In our Macro Wireless Design, we deliver a design to you which can be used to define the WLAN infrastructure across your organisation and sites. This design defines all equipment and software required, as well as detailing how Wi-Fi will be implemented across your organisation. During this process, we perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct interviews with all relevant stakeholders within your organisation, in order to define the requirements of the WLAN design.

  • Creation of a Macro Design document based on the outcomes of stakeholder interviews and current industry best practice.

  • Provide deliverables for the WLAN design, agreed with the customer. This may include such items as designs for Cisco WLC configuration, Prime Infrastructure, CMX, wIPS etc.

  • Provide generic Bill of Materials to allow implementation of the WLAN at customer sites, in line with the Macro Wireless Design.

  • Review of the Macro Design document with relevant stakeholders within your organisation.

Micro Wireless Design:

In our Micro Wireless Design (also known as the Detailed Design), we further define the Macro Design for each specific site the customer requires. The Micro Design can either be performed in conjunction with the Macro design, or separately depending on your organisations requirements.

During the Micro Wireless Design process, we define all design and configuration items required for your sites wireless network implementation, right down to the smallest detail. In summary, it provides you with a document which you can then use to implement your wireless network step-by-step. A generic summary of details we provide for a generic Micro Wireless Design is shown below, although these would differ depending on the customisation of your organisations wireless network requirements:

  • Wireless network topology (logical and physical)

  • Complete RF coverage maps with AP positioning and antenna selection

  • Network infrastructure addresses

  • IP address allocation

  • Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) interface allocation

  • DHCP server configuration

  • WLAN SSID and VLAN allocation

  • Wireless user authentication

  • Wireless encryption configuration

  • SNMP configuration

  • Syslog / Reporting configuration

  • NTP configuration

  • TACACS+ configuration

  • Remote login configuration

  • Automatic scheduled backup configuration

  • Optimisation configuration

  • Prime Infrastrucutre configuration

  • CMX configuration

  • wIPS configuration

  • Guest Services configuration

  • Additional best practice configuration

The level of detail we drill down to is extensive, and our Detailed Wireless Design also takes into account your existing network setup, existing network policies and future wireless network requirements. We can also design your wireless network in advance to be scalable for future wireless applications (e.g. voice over wireless, RTLS, 802.11ac), and with the required level of coverage and hardware redundancy your organisation needs.
